Mission: Hughes is a community that embodies a culture of respect, empathy, kindness, partnership, and equity where students are empowered to soar academically, artistically, and athletically in order to be high school, college and career ready.
Vision: Our Owls are curious learners that embody self-efficacy, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and value the assets of those in their community.

The Long Beach Unified School District hosted its community-oriented Quarterly Strategic Plan Meeting at Browning High School in December, bringing together staff, community and students surrounding the district’s 2024-29 Strategic Plan.

Recently, the Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved a districtwide sustainability plan to meet clean energy goals by 2045.

In November, the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) hosted an exhibition showcasing the artistic achievements of middle school students from the Long Beach Unified School District.
